How to Get Rid of Melted Crayon Stains & Solid Crayon Marks Out of Carpet in Vista, CA

Having kids around the house brings so much joy to your home. Kids are so full of life! They inspire us to remember all of the joy that can be found in everyday life. As we get older sometimes we get so caught up in the responsibilities of our life that we just do not slow down enough to find the happiness that is surrounding us each and every day. One simple pleasure that kids enjoy is coloring. Children will spend hours coloring in their youth. Unfortunately the downside is that sometimes they color on things that they should not color on. One place that many kids will color on is the carpet. If you walk into a room to see that your child has colored on the carpet what do you do? First of all do not panic. If you start working on it right away almost all stains will come out of your carpet without any problem.

Scrape Crayon Off of Carpet

The first thing that you will want to do is use a dull knife to gently scrape any crayon residue off of your carpet. A butter knife is the best choice for this. Sometimes the crayon is too soft to scrape off. If this is the case get an ice cube and put it in a plastic bag. The ice will help the crayon harden and then you can scrape it off with the knife. After you have scraped of all that you can off the area get your vacuum out and vacuum the pieces that you scraped off.

Cleaning Solution to Remove Carpet Crayon Stains

The next step is to mix one cup of warm water with ΒΌ teaspoon of mild dishwashing detergent. Before you put this on your carpet you will want to test it on a small, inconspicuous post. Let the solution sit on the carpet for a minute. Then you will want to take a clean, wet cloth to sponge the solution off of the carpet. If your carpet did not discolor or stain from the solution you can go ahead and use it on your carpet area that has been affected by the crayons. Pour the solution onto the stained area. Allow the solution to set on the carpet for five minutes. Then get a clean, dry cloth and blot the crayon until it has all come out of the carpet. You will want to make sure that you do not rub or wipe the stain. Rubbing or wiping the stain will only push the crayon deeper into your carpet. When the stain is removed you will want to get a clean, wet cloth and clean the solution off of your carpet.

How to Remove Melted Crayon from Carpet

Sometimes you will find that the crayon has melted into your carpet. To get melted crayon out of your carpet the above method may not work for you. You can try this next method to get your stain out. You will need to gather liquid dish soap; warm water; a few clean white cloths; and an iron. Mix one cup of warm water with a few drops of the liquid dish soap. Place one of your white cloths onto the area of your carpet with the melted crayon. Pour your water and soap solution onto the cloth. Allow the liquid to set for a few minutes. While it soaks into your cloth turn your iron onto a low setting and let it get warm. Get a new white clean, dry cloth and place it on the area. Then take your iron and place it on the cloth. Let it sit for a few minutes. The heat from the iron will transfer the crayon onto the cloth. Then you can simply lift the cloth off of the carpet and hopefully your carpet will be crayon free.
