Most people think of wine, juice or chocolate — or maybe pets or small children having accidents when it comes to carpet stains. They know that blood is one of the toughest stains to get for anyone who’s had the misfortune of bleeding through clothes, onto upholstery and having it make contact with carpet. Though it is easier if you’re able to treat the stain while the blood is still wet, cleaning blood from carpets is no simple task. If a terrible mishap is what caused the stain in the first place, this might not be possible, though. Today, we at Steam Magic Carpet Cleaning would like to share a few ways to get blood out of the carpet.
Does Dish Soap Remove Blood Stains from Carpet?
Add 1 ½ teaspoons of liquid dishwashing detergent to a small bucket of water. Completely soak it in the bucket a cloth in the solution. Because you can see if you’re picking up the stain and you can avoid transferring any dye, a white cloth works best. Dampen the affected area, being sure not to make it too wet. Gently scrub the area with an old toothbrush. After the stain is broken down, use the treated cloth to blot out any residual blood. Use a clean, water-dampen cloth to rinse the area.
How Do You Mix OxiClean for Carpet Blood Stains?
You should refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for this method. However, usually it will instruct you to dissolve the powdered OxiClean into warm water. Apply the solution to the stain. Completely saturate the stain with the solution, without making it soaked. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes. Blot with a clean, dry cloth until blood is removed.
How Does Salt Remove Blood from Carpet?
Salt paste is particularly ideal on delicate carpet fibers. Pour in some cool water into a bowl. Add 3 tablespoons of salt to it, or enough to create a thin paste. Let it sit for about 5 minutes after you spread the paste over the affected spot. Making sure not to rub the stain in, use either a cloth or a paper towel to blot it out. Allow to dry and vacuum the remnant alts.
Does Cold Water Get Blood Stains Out?
You can always start with cold water if you’d rather not mix up and apply chemical solutions. Pour cool water in a spray bottle and apply to the blood stain, either pat dry with a towel, working from the outside of the stain in, or use a wet vac to remove the water.
Will Peroxide Get Blood Out of Carpet?
To ensure that it won’t cause discoloration, you should test it out on a corner of your carpet before using this chemical. You can use a cotton swab dipped in hydrogen peroxide to carefully moisten the stain if your carpet passes the test. Use a wet cloth to blot it after letting it sit for up to an hour. Let it air dry, after blotting the excess liquid out.
