If you walk into your home and notice a funky aroma you probably will try a few different things to get rid of the smell. You may try to locate the source of the smell; wash your dishrags; empty the garbage; spray some air freshener; and light a candle. Hopefully if you try all of these methods one of them will get rid of the smell. The downside of this could be that your candle will tip over and you wind up with candle wax on your carpet. Getting rid of candle wax can be a challenging task. Thankfully Steam Magic Carpet Cleaning has some tips for you on how to get the candle wax out of your carpet.
Scrape Wax Off Carpet
The first thing that you will need to do is gather your supplies. Get a plastic bag of ice or an ice pack, an iron, white terry cloth towel; carpet cleaner, butter knife, and a vacuum. Take your ice cubes or ice pack and put them on top of the wax. You are trying to get the wax as cold as possible so that it will completely solidify.
Once the wax is solid get your butter knife out. Use the knife and scrape off as much of the wax as possible. You will want to really take your time on this step. Many people find that if they take their time on this step that they can get a large amount of wax out of the carpet. If you are able to get all of the wax off the carpet skip the next step.
Get Wax Out of Carpet with Heat from Iron
If you were not able to get all of the wax out of the carpet you will want to get out your iron and the white terry cloth towel. Turn your iron on and turn it to a low temperature. Make sure that you do not turn the iron on too hot. An extremely hot iron can melt the fibers of your carpet and there is no fixing that. Turn your steam option off as well. Then place your white terry cloth towel over the wax. Slowly rub the iron over the towel. You will notice that the towel slowly begins to absorb the wax. You may need to move the towel a few times or change it out for a new towel to fully get rid of all the wax.
How to Get Colored Wax Stains Out of Carpet
Now you are able to see what your carpet looks like at this point. Many times candles are colored with some sort of dye. You may have been able to remove the wax by now but the dye may have stained your carpet. This step will help you address the dye on your carpet. Spray carpet cleaning solution on the carpet. Allow it to sit for a few minutes. Take a clean white cloth and carefully blot at the carpet until stain is gone.
